Background
Our restaurant has over 15 years background creating delightful Thai dishes in the Heart of Europe,
and also in heart of Budapest.
At the very beginning our place was the very first Thai Restaurant inCentral Europe and was named after the first owner: Chan-Chan of Pinter Street. And due to the talented staff it earned a very good reputation within a short period and became soon the Best Asian Restaurant for years selected by the well-known Budapest Week since 1993.
Not only the newspaper but our regular guest were the guarantee of the service we provided. Among them
we had a chance to serve such famous personalities like Yoko Ono, Madonna, James Belushi,
Udvaros Dorottya just to mention a few besides the also well-known foreign ambassadors and high
ranking local politicians. Like in Thailand, Spicy and tasty food, warm welcoming and friendly service
together with the value for money pricing was always the key points of the fully booked evenings.
To increase the space in 1997 we decided to move to our present location at the other side street of
the famous shopping street of Vaci utca, to So street. The changes does not stopped our success but
in the contrary increased it with the new elaborated interior design. This brought us to get the Best
Asian Restaurant Prize again in 1998. But due to that the founder left Hungary in 1999 the period
of Chan-Chan terminated and the valuable staff widespread amongst newly opened restaurants by
that time. But none of them was able to reproduce the former success story: the former place at So
utca`s Thai dishes got devastated by the Vietnamese management and the other Thai food serving
places closed down one by one. Only a small Thai Buffet on the Vaci Street kept the original customs
and tastes from Chan-Chan and entertained their customers just as before, and started to magnetize
more and more.
After 5 years past in Budapest without a good Thai restaurant, fortunately the small
buffet was capable to take over again So utca location and under the name of Thai restaurant and
Bangkok House, and seems to begin the new success story of the Thai food in Budapest, Hungary
at the year of 2006. Of course, behind the scene you can find the same talented people are doing
their best by getting help from a some more Thai employees.
Therefore, you could find again the spicy and tasty food, warm welcoming and friendly service together with the value for money pricing which are again the key points of the fully booked evenings.

Tibor Sutca, owner – the magic-handed Transylvanian, who is also the member founder of former
Chan-Chan, Head of the Kitchen Management

Khun Sak – highly educated (fluent in 7 languages) with the sense of humor to make you smile, one
of the founder of former Chan-Chan Restaurant, Captain
